Rainy Kentucky to Mexico
There hasn’t been a lot of excitement this past week which I have to say I don’t mind. I do have a new renter for the old burrito space and they have taken possession so that is something fun to report. I haven’t gotten to meet the renters in person yet but I believe the name will be called “Peacock Lounge”. Keep an eye out for upcoming updates on when they are opening.
I was able to catch another Reds game courtesy of Hard Rock and my players card. I know not free but I sure love when I get other perks like that from a major casino. There is something about those games and those meals that just happen to taste better and enjoy more. As my dad would tell my mom, “it isn’t free!!!” But I’m going to respond as my mom did. “Well I earned it!”
I must say, I know that Cincinnati is rich in baseball history and tradition, but their ballpark is amazing! Yes, I love that I live 1.8 miles from the ballpark and is just a 9 minute drive and most of that is because of traffic downtown. But this ballpark doesn’t play around!
When the concept of spending the day at the ballpark this ballpark would totally allow for so many activities. Not only choice of restaurants, and self checkout convenience stores, but bars, areas for adults to hang, areas for kids to play and explore. It is crazy the thought that was put into it.
City living is quite. bit different and I knew I had to get used to it in many ways. One thing I was prepared for were the random animals that pop up and scare the crap out of me. From a opossum, to a raccoon, to TWO neighborhood cats that have made the backyard a litterbox, not to mention the time one of them happened to get inside the house while I was letting the girls out to go potty. I am notorious for not shutting the door and leaving open for the girls to go back in when they are done if the weather is nice. Well, the girls must have smelled the cat the minute we walked in and I hear a cat screech and see something fly out of the corner of my eye and I realize it is one of the neighborhood cats!
Now mind you, I envision this male cat just spraying all over my house as he is bouncing of my walls and the three dogs are about to loose their mind wondering what the heck that thing is in our house and what is that new smell! Cat ended up being very nice and I think my probably verbal screaming helped to make the cat freeze in order for me to pick it up and carry it out back.
So this week I am leaving and the gentleman from across the way in the alley waves at me as I am pulling away in my jeep. Super nice guy that is redoing a bungalow for someone so I see him on the regular. I roll down my window and stop as he proceeds to ask me “so what is the deal with all the ducks?” Well, as you can guess it, MY brain doesn’t think of the row of them on the dashboard as I reply…”we have ducks too???!!!!” thinking wow, we sure have a barnyard around here…as I see his face and realize what he was asking.
Not a finer moment of mine, but just another piece of comedy that I create for myself on the daily. Loading up early Saturday morning and heading to Veracruz, Mexico to go hang with a friend of mine Yasiel, who is currently playing ball down there. I have changed my flights a couple times due to game changes and another trip we had planned but Yasiel currently has a pulled hamstring so I thought I would rather have some time when he wasn’t playing ball and having to rest, then always go go go for all the ballgames.
Adios!
