My first visitor ❤️

I don’t wanna say it took losing my mom to get my sister to visit this part of the country, but it is my sister’s first visit to this part of the country. 😂 She had said early on she didn’t want to be in Kansas over the Christmas holiday the first year losing mom and I had obviously just purchased a home outside of the state so I struck while the iron was hot and got my sister to make her first trek to Cincinnati, Ohio/Covington Kentucky.
Granted, my sister is in the middle of lots in her world also so pulling her away was a huge thing on both sides of us, and we made the most of all the time. She was able to roll into town the evening of the 23rd and I conned her into staying through Thursday morning which gave us the holidays together and a few days to explore although crazily many of them were rainy here.
Some thing that is rather odd to me, and almost a little difficult to process is that my first cousin, my mothers sister’s son, lived in Cincinnati, the last 15 years of his life. And when my sister and I pulled up his last known address, it is about 14 minutes from the home I just purchased.
My mother had received my cousins ashes after my cousin died, because she would have been the last living relative to him so when my sister made the decision to come over and visit, we thought it was a perfect time to bring cousin Bob, and put his ashes to rest also.
There were two absolutely beautiful, little urns that someone that loved my cousin must have purchased, we didn’t quite know what to expect. We didn’t know if we were opening up Ziploc bags and will be doing illegal, sprinkling or what was on the agenda. But luckily, we had these sweet little urns that my mother had written his information on that were placed in two locations, one at his last known address, and the other at the Cincinnati, Art Institute, which is high on the hill and he can look over all of Cincinnati.
There was something really special about my sister and I driving to my cousin Bob’s house, reminiscing, talking about how happy my mom, my two aunts my cousin would be. It’s crazy taking this long to make that visit… All around it was just a really cool experience that my sister and I were able to share together.
I will say this Christmas absolutely everything was different about the experience from Christmas Eve to Christmas Day and that is exactly what my sister and I needed! From the people we were eating dinner with to the food we ate to the location we made it different. We created new memories. We kept one tradition. We really love our crowns, and I packed some from Topeka that I guess I probably had purchased for my mother at some point. A friend that had joined us for dinner had just mentioned to the group how at a dinner at my moms she had busted out the crowns, and that was such a fun tradition so I ran and grabbed the crowns I had prepared on the mantle for everyone to rock that evening! My sister and I do giggle. It’s the first time we’ve ever seen the color blue crowns. My mom would’ve fought for the blue one.

Hope you had as an amazing holiday as I did and wishing you and yours a warm season filled with laughter and love!
