#notojenny #jennysworld
You know, I’m realizing it’s a perfect time to explain a little bit more about me and perhaps where my hashtag came from and where it’s going! 😛
I was born and raised and lived a majority of my life in the capital city of Topeka, Kansas. Topeka is a very funny city in how they segregated the parts of town and how people felt about the parts of Topeka.
I grew up north of Topeka (couldn’t really say north Topeka back then because it was the projects and my mom would swat me). My mom always made sure to clarify when I was young I grew up north of Topeka.
Now, in this day and age, I personally feel and many others in Topeka would say north Topeka is one of the coolest most unique areas of town. And in particular, the NOTO (north Topeka) arts and entertainment district is amazingly cool and has transformed in the past 14 years from empty abandoned buildings and streets to a vibrant arts community with killer additions including the best grilled cheese restaurant, a brewery, incredible art, murals galore and that’s just the start.
So when I learned how in essence everything I post with my hashtag is forever linked together and easy to find along came #notojenny. I might also mention and add my three business we’re at the start of the budding arts district that helped to kick it into high gear and the investment of three buildings. So, thus my hashtag of #notojenny. Since I have all ages reading, if you type that hashtag or any into your search bar it will pull all up (any search for media) and you are able to follow the hashtags so you never miss a post!
So say you love #bigfoot, follow that hashtag and each time someone posts it will be in your feed. Great way to keep up with that you worry you may miss.
So, although I will always be notojenny since I was born and raised a Kansas girl, and you can take the girl out of North Topeka but you can’t take the North Topeka out of her. I love where I came from and what I have accomplished in Topeka from a successful Mary Kay career, to a passion Parties career to Serendipity, noto Burrito and Pinkadilly. I wouldn’t have met the amazing people without that journey and it most certainly wouldn’t have shaped me into the human I am.
I have made the decision to sell my buildings and close that chapter of my life. It’s time. I’m ready. I’ve realized as I have been gone over the holidays and brainstorming with friends on what I want to do for my next chapter, that I am needing a change!
And the best part of it is I’m in a position to be able to help someone else acquire the property/ies especially when I don’t think banks are ever small business friendly. It would be cool to find a current restauranteur in Topeka, that is currently paying rent, that would take two of buildings back to one big restaurant like it was in the 70s, who I could help bless and they would be buying the buildings for themselves instead of paying rent to someone else. That would thrill me to be able to help someone who may never have the opportunity to own real estate otherwise.
I don’t know of plans for Pinkadilly space or how I will proceed with that. Shelly and I might just open first first weekends until the building is sold and such. I also am exploring options of bringing Pinkadilly merchandise to the Cincinnatti/Covington area in some capacity. Maybe holiday marts or renting a small space.
So thus a time for a new additional hashtag to help me on my journey and what may come its way. I have an amazing world surrounded by some really cool friends who do some cool shit and I want to share my world with you!
If you know someone who would be a great fit for noto, that may be a perfect addition to the NOTO family message me!
Until next time…
Jenny
