Exploring Cincinnatti and Covington

Of course one of the best things about exploring any new area whether travel or new residence is finding your new favorite hauntsis my most looked forward to activity about a new area. There is something special to me to see the ingenuity that an entrepreneur has when starting any kind of small business. Perhaps that’s another reason I try my best to support a “mom and pop” is because they are the underdog not having a formula. But giving it a shot!

And Cincinnatti has so many unique things I could do a list weekly. It is nuts the things the city offers. Perhaps it’s because the three states come together in this area or it is of such a massive size I’m not used to having the offerings of a big city.

I have to start this out by talking about Findley Market located in an area called Over the Rhine. OTR would be a blown up bigger town version of noto. Same growth from abandoned old buildings and rif raff to arts shopping and entertainment area.

We own a flat in OTR that is a one bedroom that sleeps four that we rent out and love to spend the weekends at and use for a base camp prior to games because it’s 8 minutes from all of the stadiums. (Bengals, Reds and FC Cincy). We love being able to head out on foot in good weather and walk to Washington Park for music or grab food at countless locations.

Findley Market is a large indoor outdoor farmers market walking distance from our flat located in this quirky area OTR. You name it you will find it at this market. The last time I went I took my sister and it was around the holidays so half of the market was closed and it was still spectacular!

Next time I’ll take more pictures inside the market to share, but if you are looking for spices, pottery, plants, meats, handmade items. You can find it at findley market! Plus the eateries that are there abound. You could wander, shop and nibble for hours.

Pompilios is a local Italian that was made extra famous from the movie rainman where the breakfast scene was filmed. My friend Cathy had brought me here years ago (again frame of reference isn’t where I purchased home) so I was shocked when it is within two miles of the Covington house also!

We have found an Irish pub around the corner in Newport that has amazing food and feels like a Celtic fox in Topeka to me. There are a lot of Irish establishments and also German so I need to do some research on all that. My hair lady also mention that she thinks Covington has some witchy past so I need to figure that out!

Have landed in Vegas and of course wanting hit the road yet get this out. So more next week!

Love hearing of all you following along,

Jenny
